Hostess Fruit Pies 2006
If there is one thing I miss most about comics from the "good old days" it isn't the sense of wonderment or the outlandishly creative stories that never got bogged down in continuity. No, it's the Hostess ads. If there's one change I'd like to see Dan Didio and Joe Quesada implement at DC and Marvel, it would be rekindling the relationship with Hostess.
Just imagine the possibilities!

On the whole, that would have been much more entertaining than the real mini.
I think Steve Dillon would approve of that.
And if he doesn't, so what? That series was, well, um, I'm going to be nice and just say it wasn't good.
Goddamnit, I want a Hostess fruit pie now, freshly kicked out of a clown...mmmm...stomach pie...
Great post, man. But, to be serious for a moment, the fact that there aren't Hostess Fruit Pie ads or 7-11 Superhero Cups or Marvel Stickers in Trix today, underlines the problem comics are facing right now. I'm old, and I remember those things with an absurd level of fondness, which is probably the foundation of my love of comics. Kids today don't get the little things like that, do they? I mean, Marvel will still put it's characters on little fruit snacks, but where are the prizes?
Hmm, by "serious" apparently I meant "rambling." Still...
Ra Ra Ra -- you go!
Dude, that was hilarious.

Wait a minute...he ate them, wrapper and all?
Anyway, here's another homage, from Order of the Stick:
